DEVOtional 2006: Shout It Out!

September is coming sooner than you think! Everything is coming together nicely. As with last year, the event will be held at the Lime Spider in Akron, OH. This year, the date is September 16, 2006. The bands on the roster are our perennial house band, Spudboys, semi-local band Poopy Necroponde's Natural Lizzy, the one and only MAGICYCLOPS, the most excellent Genral Jackett will be playing some familiar and not-so-familiar songs, and the NYC female-fronted tribute band DEVA!

We also have one confirmed guest attending this year: Jihad Jerry (aka DEVO's Jerry Casale) will be there, selling his album and possibly t-shirts! If you're planning on buying his album, wait till the DEVOtional and hand your $10 right to the man himself! In addition, last year, localites Bobbie Watson, Susan Aylward (Massaro) and General Jackett all stopped by unannounced. Who's to say they won't again this year?

As for other nifty goings-on at the event, there will be door prizes that every spud will appreciate. There will be one prize of the complete Booji Boy's Basement audio collection (data files on DVD discs) and one prize the complete Booji Boy's Basement DVD collection. Not only that, there will also be giveaways of the most excellent official DEVO DVDs, Live in the Land of the Rising Sun and Live 1980, courtesy of Music Video Distributors. I'm sure there will be some other goodies thrown into the dome come day-of as well.

Of course, there will also be screenings of rare, never-before-seen archival DEVO video from years gone by. You will not want to miss it. And don't forget the perrennial t-shirt by Michael Pilmer!

For those needing lodging, there are a number of rooms at the Akron Radisson (which is right down the street from the Spider) set aside for DEVOtional guests at a special cut rate. Check out the info on that below!

The happenings don't stop there, though. There will be a musical preview night at the Electric Cafe Company in Kent, OH on the night of September 15th. Performances will include a preview set by the Spudboys and DEVO-inspired set by Microwaves. In addition to that, right across the street at the Water Street Gallery will be a display of Mark Mothersbaugh's Postcard Diaries artwork (see info below).Get yourself primed for the non-stop assault on the senses bound to occur the next day.
